How scripting can be of great help? Here are some fundamental concepts that will help you as you begin building up Powershell scripts.

PS1 files

A Powershell script is nothing beyond a simple text file. The file itself consists of a group of Powershell commands. Each command appears on a split line. Its filename should make use of the PS1. extension in order for the text file to be treated as a script of the Powershell.

Running a script

Over the past years, users are required to navigate the path of the file and then enter the executable file's name so they can run this executable case from the command line. But, this old process doesn't work for Windows Powershell script. Basically, users will need to enter the complete path together with the filename in order to run a Powershell script. For instance, you could type C:\Scripts\Script.ps1 for executing a script with a name SCRIPT.PS1. Here, the exemption is that users can run a script by just entering the name if the folder holding the script is in the path of their system. A shortcut can also be used if you're already in the folder having the script. Simply enter .\ and the name of the script (e.g. .Script.ps1)
